- What are the costs?
- For a 9 day, 8 night tour, the cost will be $1,000.00 (per person). This includes • 8 nights in quality hotels featuring air-conditioned rooms with toilet, bath/shower • Three meals per day • Cultural displays and entrance fees to all attractions • All transportation within Ghana. Group Size Minimum - 10 persons Maximum -20 persons.
- When and how do I pay for the tour?
- You will pay by wire transfer one month prior to departure. The instructions will be sent to you after committing. You can cancel up to two weeks before scheduled departure with a partial refund of funds paid less the costs of cancellation.
- Are there other costs?
- Yes, the tour price excludes airfare, visa fees, airport taxes, travel insurance, beverages, tips and gratuities and all items of a personal nature.
- What will the lodging be like?
- Your accommodations will range from 3 star to 5 star, depending on the location. All rooms are guaranteed to have air conditioning, flush toilets and running water. You may also have the opportunity to stay with a host family, in which case you will be guaranteed a private room with access to a flush toilet and running water. Air-conditioning may not be an option but at the least you will have a fan.
- What will the provided meals be like?
- You will eat the local food, including “red-red”, fried plantains, beans stew, jollof rice, fufu, banku, yam or kenkey with stew or soup plus fruits. Western fare like pasta and sauce, fried chicken with rice, etc., are also provided on request depending on where you are placed. Some destinations will have more options available.
- What happens when I arrive in Accra?
- You are given prior instructions by email of how to meet your GLOBAL HANDS representative at the airport without hassle.
- Can I draw cash on my VISA card?
- You can draw cash on your VISA credit or debit card at BARCLAYS branches in all major cities. Standard Chartered Bank also accepts VISA card at all branches. Several other banks also accept VISA card and Travelers Checks. You can even draw on your VISA card through several ATMs in Accra and other large cities in Ghana, 24 hours a day, any day.
- Do I need to take any shots?
- The Yellow Fever inoculation is obligatory for all visitors to Ghana. The vaccination must be taken at least 10 days before the journey. Please see your doctor to discuss other vaccinations and malaria preventatives that you will need.
- Is a visa required to enter Ghana?
- Yes, you will need a visa before entering Ghana. Visit the Ghana Embassy online at www.ghana-embassy.com, select “Visa and Consular Affairs”.
- Are there any risks involved?
- International travel inherently has risks. Ghana is considered to be one of the safer countries one can visit in Africa. You must however take necessary precautions to protect yourself against illness and other travel-related risks.
- How does the tour work?
- We plan tours for no less than 10 people but we ask for a commitment from 12 people to ensure that if two drop out we still have enough people to go. As soon as we have 12 interested people, we plan the tour according to the desires of the group. If you are joining a standard tour, we will confirm the tour as soon as we have 12 people committed.
